Thought Provoking Musical Drama Comes To Bournemouth
BIGLITTLE Theatre School, in partnership with Jimmy's Iced Coffee, is thrilled to bring you "The Stationmaster." This compelling new musical drama, performed by the talented students of the Professional Development Programme, will take the stage at the Performing Arts Centre, East Way, Bournemouth, from Wed 14 to Sat 17 February.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Lake District in 1955, "The Stationmaster" weaves a tale of Thomas Price, a revered railway stationmaster whose life unravels following a tragic train crash. When Thomas chooses to conceal a mistake, the web of lies he constructs threatens the very fabric of his existence. This gripping narrative explores themes of responsibility, integrity, and the complex moral landscapes we navigate in our pursuit of redemption.
Directed by West end actor Nigel Richards, "The Stationmaster" is a musical adaptation inspired by "Judgement Day," a poignant piece by the renowned playwright Ödön von Horváth. Horváth's original work, set on the eve of World War II, delves into the nature of goodness amidst a world teetering on the brink of moral decay. This adaptation relocates the story to a post-war Britain, capturing a nation at a crossroads, revelling in the new-found freedoms of the era while standing on the precipice of profound social change.
Composer Tim Connor and book writer Susannah Pearce have crafted a musical that challenges audiences to lean in and engage with its rich tapestry of characters and themes.
