Kelly Knight

YOUTH THEATRE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Kelly began her training at BIGLITTLE and Murilova Ballet School, and at 17 started her professional dance training at Bird College in Sidcup where she gained a Dada Award for the 3-year Diploma course. Kelly continued her training at London Studio Centre where she achieved a BA Hons degree in Theatre Dance. Kelly has performed in shows including playing the part of Franz in The Nutcracker (Ballet Russe), Moby Dick the Musical (Pleasance Theatre) and Dance Overture( Hackney Empire).

She has also modelled and danced in hair shows for Trevor Sorbie and Scissors, as well as working with acclaimed choreographers for events and conferences in London. As a teacher, Kelly worked as part of the dance department at The Brit School in Croydon.

Many of Kelly’s students have gone on to perform with the Rambert Dance Company, Richard Alston, Zoonation, as well as dancing for recording artists such as Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and the novelty dance act Twist and Pulse. Kelly has choreographed and staged many dance pieces and her work has been performed at central London venues such as the Shaw Theatre, Greenwich Theatre, and the Bonnie Bird Theatre at Laban.

Since relocating to Dorset to raise her family, Kelly has performed as a professional dance partner for part of Bournemouth's ‘Business Come Dancing’ which was hosted by Pavilion Dance and recently was invited back to be part of the judging panel. She has worked on the creative team as a choreographer for shows including Broadway Showtunes (Bournemouth Pavilion), 9 to 5 -the Musical (Jellicoe Theatre), Edward Scissorhands (Jellicoe Theatre), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Backlight productions).
