BIGLITTLE Theatre School trains students from 3 to 19 years in all aspects of the performing arts and boasts an excellent team of highly qualified and motivated teachers, inspirational and creative directors and choreographers, and a fantastic team of support and pastoral care staff.  Many of the staff are current members of the profession and come direct to BIGLITTLE from work in the top levels of Theatre and Dance across the country.  This gives BIGLITTLE students amazing access to the highest possible calibre of creative staff without having to travel to workshops or courses in London.

BIGLITTLE teachers pass on a wealth of experience and advice.  Each individual’s skills are identified and built upon and at the same time areas needing improvement are worked upon to improve confidence and to create a rounded performer. The classes are designed to develop technical skills, inspire imaginative engagement and encourage intellectual curiosity.

We offer classes following the graded LAMDA syllabus from entry level to Grade 8. The classes begin with a physical and vocal warm up and progress onto exercises in characterisation, improvisation and vocal technique. Selected syllabus and contrasting monologues are then rehearsed and developed until they are ready for exam entry.  The syllabus covers technique and characterisation in both classical and contemporary styles. The taking of examinations is not compulsory but is recommended.  As student’s progress through the BIGLITTLE ACTING classes, they progress through the LAMDA grades and develop a deeper understanding of the process of acting.

Each class has a Formal Assessment in the Summer Term. Students who have studied solo acting pieces or poetry work and have not opted to take a LAMDA exam, are encouraged to participate in a Formal Assessment where they can present their work and receive a written report and graded certificate of achievement. It is an excellent, ‘semi -formal’ environment in which to feel a sense of achievement and receive immediate feedback.

Acting is also an integral part of MUSICAL THEATRE classes.

Performance Opportunities

Students taking acting as part of the THEATRE MACHINE classes perform a showcase in the BIGLITTLE Grand Festival in March each year.

Students in Acting classes are invited to do a ‘Platform’ performance in the BIGLITTLE Grand Festival in March each year.
