AUDITIONS

FOOTLIGHT, LIMELIGHT & STARLIGHT COMPANIES

Entrance to our main three musical theatre companies is by means of an audition workshop.  These are semi-formal group session held usually in June & September (for admission into the company in September), and sometimes in March (for admission into the company for the summer term).

The sessions enable prospective students to experience what being part of a BIGLITTLE youth theatre is al about - and during the three hour workshop they will experience dance, singing and acting.  Our experienced staff are then able to assess the student's ability, talent strengths and most importantly potential to learn and develop, in a non-threatening audition process (no "X-factor" style judges behind desks!!)

Following on from the sessions the students will be either offered a place into one of the companies, or we will suggest a suitable alternative of training from our classes to help the student develop their skills and experience to enable possible entry into Youth Theatre at a later date.

Sometimes it is possible for us to consider students outside of these audition workshops by means of a trial session and assesment - contact us for more details.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Entrance to the Professional Development Programme (PDP) is by a formal audition process in September each year.  Successful students will then be offered a place in PDP for one year, and will have to re-audition the following September if they wish to be considered again.

The audition mirrors a professional audition and students undertake a group dance audition, and then a private audition for singing & acting - where they are asked to present two contrasting musical theatre songs, and a contemporary acting speech.  Following the singing & acting the students will then have a short interview with the principal and course director to establish their motivation and suitability for the programme.

Only students who are already part of BIGLITTLE are eligable to apply for audition to PDP.

FOCUS - young actors company

Entrance to the FOCUS  is by a process of trial session and informal assesment of the potential students strengths.   There is no formal audition process, and entrance to FOCUS is normally possible during most of the autumn term, and then again after the FESTIVAL project in the spring is complete (mid March).
