information on uniform requirements for all BIGLITTLE classes

All students are required to wear uniform for BIGLITTLE Theatre School regular classes and rehearsals.  This is particularly important for the syllabus dance disciplines where correct clothing is an essential requirement for some examinations.  Aside from that it ensures that all students are properly dressed for classes & rehearsals, and as with all schools it is important to aid a sense of pride, presentation and discipline amongst the students.

BIG LITTLE Theatre School classes & rehearsals

Black BIGLITTLE dance pants (there are two styles)
A BIGLITTLE black t-shirt/dance top
Black jazz trainer/streamliner/soft shoe
Girls in BIGLITTLE Youth Theatre companies (musical theatre) will require a BIGLITTLE black lycra performance dance skirt.
Senior girls (year 9 and above) require black leather character shoes.
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

RAD Ballet - Female

Pre-Primary - Primary

Freed ‘Chloe' short sleeved leotard in pink
Freed ‘Georgette Wrapover' skirt in Pink
Pink socks
Pink leather soft toe ballet shoes. Pink satin ballet shoes for examinations.
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Grades 1-2

Freed Aimee leotard with elastic belt - pale blue
Pink ballet socks
Pink leather ballet shoes with elastic. Pink satin ballet shoes for examinations
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Grade 3 - Grade 5

Freed Faith leotard with elastic belt - navy blue
Pink seamless ballet tights
Pink leather ballet shoes with elastic. Pink satin ballet shoes for examinations
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Higher Grades 6, 7 & 8

Freed Jane leotard with elastic belt - black
Pink seamless ballet tights
Pink leather ballet shoes with elastic (split sole ballet shoes optional)
Black chiffon long skirt (to be worn for centre and free movement only)
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Character

Black character skirt with blue ribbon bands (from Grade 1 upwards)
Black canvas character shoes, low heel Grades 1 & 2, Cuban heels Grades 3 upwards

NB.  Matching coloured crossovers are optional for class wear in colder weather. Hair should be worn either in a bun or plaits neatly pinned up over the head. Tidy pony tails are acceptable in class for up to Grade 1.

RAD Ballet - Male         

Pre - Primary - Grade 8

Freed Aaron short sleeved leotard - white
Freed shorts - navy blue (Pre-Primary/Primary)
Freed stirruped tights - navy blue (Grades 1-8)
White socks
White leather ballet shoes
Boys black character shoes
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

I.S.T.D Modern & Tap - Female

Primary - Grade 1

Sleeveless leotard - black
Footless cotton lycra tights - black
Bare feet (modern)
Black leather low heeled tap shoes (toe and heel taps) - Primary
Black leather low heeled tap shoes (tele-tone toe and heel taps) - Grade 1
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Grade 2 - Upwards

Shoe string strap BLTS top - black
Footless or calf length cotton lycra tights - black
Bare feet (modern)
Black leather low heeled tap shoes (tele-tone toe and heel taps) - Grades 2 & 3
Black Oxford tap shoes (tele-tone toe and heel taps)
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

I.S.T.D Modern & Tap - Male

Primary - Grade 1

Fitted plain T-shirt tank top style - black
Calf length cotton lycra tights - black

or

Tight fitting cotton lycra trousers - black (must not flap at ankles)
Bare feet (modern)
Black leather low heeled tap shoes (toe and heel taps) - Primary
Black leather low heeled tap shoes (tele-tone toe and heel taps) - Grade 1
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

Grade 2 - Upwards

Fitted plain T-shirt tank top style - black
Calf length cotton lycra tights - black

or

Tight fitting cotton lycra trousers - black (must not flap at ankles)
Bare feet (modern)
Black Oxford tap shoes (tele-tone toe and heel taps)
Optional but desired extras are the zippy or hoody tops.

N.B. Soft sole jazz shoe can be worn for Modern for medical reasons.
Hair should be worn tied back neatly off the face.
